New Year Skin Resolutions
Consider some of these tips and skin tricks as your complexion’s buddy system for staying fit in the year ahead.
Pick Products With Actives
Make sure your day-to-night regime is not only moisturising but promotes skin renewal to delay signs of ageing. Look for products with active ingredients that will back up the claims of what they say they do. We recommend introducing a daily Glycolic Cleanser and a Vitamin C rich serum. Together the products will not only gently exfoliate and deeply hydrate the skin but will smooth the appearance of lines, tightens the look of pores and help to maintain an even skin tone.
Don't Forget Your Beauty Sleep
The importance of beauty sleep isn't a myth, purification of your skin cells is most active when you're in deep sleep mode. You can also help replenish your complexion overnight with clever skincare. Products enriched with stem cells such as edelweiss will help keep your skin youthful and fresh.
Be Sun Safe
While we should change our skincare routines seasonally (see our blog for more details), SPF should be mandatory whatever the weather. Remember, up to 80% of the sun's rays can penetrate clouds. Sunscreen can not only prevent potential skin cancers, but it slows down the ageing process. Don't leave the house without it!
Clean Your Phone
How often do you clean your smartphone? According to a Stanford University study, that iPhone you can't keep your hands off of can get more germ-infested than a toilet in a public toilet. In fact, the glass touchscreens on mobile devices are so good at spreading viruses that sharing them may be almost as bad as sneezing in someone's face. Here's a scary thought: All those germs land right on your cheek and jawline every time you chat away, causing spots and irritation. To keep your phone (and face) bacteria-free, wipe it down with an antibacterial wipe each day.
Stop Touching Your Face
It's a habit have and do more than we realise, but not only does this subconscious habit ruin our makeup, it spreads germs and dirt off our fingers and can worsen and aggravate skin conditions like acne, eczema, dermatitis and psoriasis. Plus, frequently fiddling with the eye area can decrease the elasticity of the thin skin there causing broken blood vessels which enhances the appearance of bags.
Up Your Hydration Levels
In the winter skin calls for extra hydration (especially post-party season), so even if you cant do the full 8 glasses a day try to drink as much as you feasibly can. Jazz up your water with some fresh slices of cucumber or a few strawberries to make it a little more exciting.
Give Up The Toxins
Your skin health is another reason to ditch the cigarettes, caffeine and excess salt and refined sugar this New Year. Overloading your body with toxins can cause dehydration and inflammation in the skin, plus a breakdown in collagen which keeps skin bouncy.
Workout Your face
Your face needs to move to stay youthful, . Your skin tone will visibly improve from massage, which boosts the circulation and stimulates drainage to reduce puffiness and wrinkles.
