Body fat is, of course, necessary for life. It is a source of energy, a storage site for some vitamins, a major ingredient in brain tissue, and a structural component of all cell membranes. But as we age, most of us tend to gain fat and weight. This can stem from a steady decline in metabolic rate, a decrease in physical activit, lifestyle choices or diet.
So what can we do about excessive amounts of fat? The starting point for bringing weight under control, in general, and combating abdominal fat, in particular, is regular exercise — between 30-60 minutes per day — to control weight. Diet is also plays a big part.
As you may have discovered you can do the above and still find it very difficult to shed fat from the pelvis, buttocks and thigh areas compared to areas of the body. You may find that no matter how hard you try with diet and exercise there are small pockets of fat that just won't shift. In these cricumstances there are aestehtic treatments to help reduce these localised fat pockets but it is always worth stressing that these treatments are not 'weight-loss' treatments, they are to help contour the body and reduce small specific fat pockets that won't go with other methods.
Body fat is most common in the following areas:
Inner and Outer Thighs
Many people find excess body fat unsightly and look for treatments to help contour.
