Get to know our injectors- Mohammed Rahman
If you have ever considered injectable treatments, then no doubt your first concern will be to make sure that the person carrying out the procedure is properly qualified to prescribe and administer the treatment.
Too many clinics have taken short cuts, offered inferior products, not understood their patients' concerns and not offered qualified and experienced practitioners.
At Skin Health Spa, with over a million injectable and complex skin consultations and treatments under our belt, we know a good injector when we see one!
So, we'd like to introduce you to Mohammed Rahman
Dr Rahman graduated from the School of Pharmacy, University of London 2007 and went on to work within the NHS for a number of years. Mohammed then went on to complete a Pharmacist Independent Prescriber qualification at the Medway School of Pharmacy, Kent. With a background in hair restoration treatments, Dr Rahman decided to concentrate his efforts within the aesthetic industry and has developed skilled advanced injectable techniques, including anti-wrinkle injections and dermal fillers. Mohammed continues to strive to be a leading practitioner in the field and continually undertakes new aesthetic training for further developed aesthetic treatments.
We asked Mohammed about injectable treatments...
What makes BOTOX® and Juvéderm® different to other products?
BOTOX® is the only type A approved toxin and has a lot more proteins and is more stable than other Botulinum Toxin brand. Juvéderm® is also FDA approved and with it's Hyaluronic Acid content it integrates into the body optimally. It's different to other fillers because it attracts hydration over a period of time to provide optimum results. The Juvéderm® Vycross range such as Voluma®, Volift® and Volbella® have unique characteristics in that they improve over a period of 8 weeks post treatment, it's also known to be the most effective volume replacement therapy and a very popular alternative to facial surgery (compared to other fillers).
What treatment do you love performing the most?
I like BOTOX® as it tests my knowledge of calculating doses and facial anatomy, Dermal Fillers on the other hand is more artistic process and I enjoy seeing the instant results.
What raised your interest in Aesthetic treatments?
I have always had an interest in Aesthetic procedures which included cosmetic medicine, especially as understanding medicines is my forte. I come from a family of cosmetic/aesthetic professionals so it was a natural progression for me.
What should clients look for and check in an injector?
Safety, accuracy, friendliness. Someone who is easy to understand and fully gages the clients needs, and of course to behave in a professional manner of conduct! It's also always worth checking their credentials and qualifications either with the clinic manager or on online registers.
How does BOTOX® work and what are the side effects?
BOTOX® is a neurotoxin that causes temporary muscle paralysis through inhibition of neurotransmitters from motor nerve terminals. During the procedure you can have side effects of mild redness slight discomfort, swelling or bruising, all of which are temporary and subside 1-3 days after treatment.
What are Dermal Fillers, how do they work and the side effects?
Dermal Fillers are injections used to fill out wrinkles/folds in the skin around the face. They are also used to add volume or definition to parts of the face such as lips and cheeks, here at Skin Health Spa with only use Allergan approved Fillers containing Hyaluronic Acid. Side effects can include slight swelling, itching, bruising and the formation of lumps under the skin- if not massaged properly. Again these are temporary and subside 1-3 days post treatment.
What other interesting uses do BOTOX® and Fillers have?
BOTOX® can be used to treat Cerebral Palsy, muscle spasms, chronic migraines and hyperhidrosis (excessive sweating).
