New Evolutionary MicroNeedling Therapy

Skin needling, also called microneedling therapy, collagen induction therapy (CIT), and percutaneous collagen induction (PCI), is a minimally invasive skin-rejuvenation procedure that involves the use of a device that contains fine needles. For those familiar with our Derma Roller treatments our new Collagen P.I.N.™ treatment is the next level of micro-needling giving providing even more precision and control.

Collagen P.I.N.™ uses fine needles to puncture the skin to create a controlled skin injury. Each puncture creates a channel that triggers the body to fill these microscopic wounds by producing new collagen and elastin. Through the process of neovascularization and neocollagenesis, there is improvement in skin texture and firmness, as well as reduction in scars, pore size, and stretch marks.

Among the earliest supporters was Michael Pistor, the French doctor who is credited with having developed mesotherapy in 1952. In the 1990s, Montreal plastic surgeon Andre Camirand, MD, experimented with using tattoo guns without ink to treat postsurgical scars. South African plastic surgeon Des Fernandes, MD, founder of the Environ™ skin care range, introduced skin needling using a roller for treating vertical perioral wrinkles at the International Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (ISAPS) congress in Taipei in 1996.

Micro-Needling has proved to be a simple and fast method for safely treating wrinkles and scars. Because the epidermis remains intact, the procedure can be repeated safely and is also suited to regions where laser treatments and deep peels are not typically performed. PCI therapy is now becoming widely used as a treatment for photoaged skin to improve the skin’s appearance and quality, and to improve or even prevent scarring.

It scientifically delivers the “flawless” results using a method of introducing a controlled wound into the skin triggering a release of growth factors, new collagen & elastin. A unique automated process helps to protect the new skin cell growth providing for quicker healing and a much higher success rate for results than more traditional micro-needling therapies. Collagen P.I.N.™ is the next step in the scientific evolution of aesthetics. This evolutionary device has three times more needles any other device on the market. The new collagen PIN treatment can help with a number of skin concerns including ageing skin and fine lines/wrinkles, scars and acne scars, pigmentation, sagging skin and improving skin texture.

How is this treatment different to a Derma Roller?

Dermal rollers have a fixed needle or penetration depth (i.e. 0.5mm), which is not very conducive when treating an area like the face which requires different depths due to the thickness of skin tissue, which varies in depth tremendously depending on the area being treated. Therefore, having a fixed needle depth or penetration level is a huge drawback when trying to customize a treatment for consistency. Collagen P.I.N.™ has an adjustable needle depth so as depth of penetration can vary throughout the entire treatment. This will allows your aesthetician to properly address the specific needs of thinner skin on your lower eyelids, crow’s feet, and forehead. Additionally where the tissue is thicker in other areas like the upper lip, cheeks (due to fat pads), neck, and décolletage, the necessary adjustments can easily be treated with 1 needle tip instead of 5 or 6 needle rollers.
