The Ultimate Facial REVIEW

Yesterday I visited my local Skin Health Spa for a bit of well deserved R&R. I opted for the ultimate facial seeing as it’s one of our client’s and therapist’s most favourite treatments!

After filling out a few forms I was taken to the treatment room by the beautiful (and extremely talented) Laura. I’ve never had the ultimate facial previously so before we got started Laura fully explained everything to me. Her knowledge the skin and her general professionalism were second to none. She made me feel completely relaxed which is exactly what you need prior to a treatment.

After we had been through everything thoroughly the facial began. Firstly, Laura removed all of my face make up to make sure it was well cleansed then proceeded with the Microdermabrasion. Microdermabrasion is a mechanical exfoliation method whereby the outer layers of the skin are gently resurfaced to leave you with incredibly soft skin amongst a whole host of other benefits. The process was comfortable and I personally found it to be really quite relaxing.

Next up came the Transderm part of the facial. Now there is no easy way to describe Transderm but I will do my best to put it into layman’s terms. Basically, a hand held device uses electrical pulses to massage a hydrating mask into your skin. The sensation is what I would describe as a ‘Slendertone for your face’. You can feel the muscles underneath your skin contract and release which I found to be rather therapeutic. The theory behind this technology is that the use of the device allows product to work deeper into the skin. The result is beautifully plumped and healthy looking skin. Perfect if you have an important event coming up.

I’m due to return to Skin Health Spa over the next couple of weeks to complete the second part of my facial. In the meantime I’ve been given a DermaQuest 15% glycolic cleanser to use every day. I used it for the first time last night and it’s safe to say it’s pretty fantastic. I’ll be posting a full review soon!
